Aprox how much horsepower

In the trailer for The Rice and the Inaccurate (fast and furious), the 69 charger lifts the front off the ground and proceeds to smoke the tires. How much horsepower needed to do that in our cars? hahahahah

A lot more than yours puts out.

It's a lot more than JUST torque though. Traction is very very important.

I could build me a 2000hp engine (okay, no I couldn't) and leave the suspension/wheels stock and you know what I'd get?

First, a lot of smoke. Then after the tires popped, I'd grind the rims until they got to the axle. And I'd have moved about a foot. heh

So if that charger had about 500 ftlbs of torque, why did it get beat by an eclipse? I seriously don't understand even if it IS just a movie.

It is a 650 hp Supra TT that it loses too, not an eclispe. And without seeing the movie I think it's premature to even say it lost. It wrecked in the movie, but according to the official page even they are listing the charger as being faster...

Just so you all know, that wheel stand is a total fake. Watch very closely, you can see the bar come down and lift the front end off the ground. Watch the online trailer, they oh-so-nicely repeat that scene over and over again.
