I have heard you guys talk about this quite a bit and I can't figure out what VATS is. Can some one enlighten me on the subject. It seems to be talked about most on the Firebirds. Is that all it came on?

VATS stands for Vehicular Anti-Theft System. There's a very easy way to see if you have it.

Does your key have that little black nugget in it? That's a part of the VATS system.

Here's how it works:

There are two wires running two the ignition. When you stick your key in, that black nugget completes the circuit. Well, the nugget is a resistor. The two wires run to a module that eventually runs to the computer. Well, the computer measures the resistance in the wires, and if it matches a stored value in the computer, it'll let your car start. Otherwise, it's disable for a few minutes. Unfortunately, the VATS is easy to bypass, and there's only like 15 different values anyways, but.. it's a good start. heh

Yep my key does have that and I knew that it was for the Security for the car but I just had no Idea what it was called. Thanks for the reply thats all I needed to know.
