car wont run coughs gas out of throttle body

when i try to start mt 89 rs 305 tbi it tries to run then dies and spews gas from throttle body? cant figure it out? replaced cap rotor fuel filter and egr and computer still does it it use to do it from time to time now it does it everytime any ideas

My dad and i had a similar problem with our chevelle. It spitting raw fuel out the carb. Turned out the distributor was off 180.

yeah it seems like it out of time but i havent messed with timming and it was doing it from time to time then run fine nows it does it all the time

This may be a stupid question but i just want to get the obvious out of the way. Are u sure you installed the rotor in the right direction?

see this is actully my buddies car i said timming to but the ting that has us baffled is for the last month is jus did it now and then and would run fine any other time and started to get worse to now it jus wont run coughs and shoots gas from tb thanks for the effort

I was thinking that too actually...

Doesn't matter how good your distributor timing is, if the cam timing's off no amount of distributor timing is going to fix that.

A cooked catylitic converter or a leaky intake valve are two possibles, with the leaky intake valve not likely.
