Crane rocker ???
Ok, I got a question here and Im not sure if these will work on my 82 LG4 motor. The mods are in the sig.
Comp Cams Magnum Pushrods - part # 7812-16
Fits conventional old school small block Chevy. This is a full set (16) of used pushrods, in good shape. These pushrods are hardened for guideplate use. Comp lists them as having a 7.794" length, which is the same as stock Chevrolet.
Crane long slot steel rockers, 1.5 ratio, for small block chevy. This is a used set of 16, in good condition. All of the rocker arms, ***** and 16 adjustment nuts are there. These are Crane part # 11800-16, non self-aligning, heat treated, long slot rockers.
Crane long slot steel rockers, 1.6 ratio, for small block chevy. This is a used set of 16, in good condition. All of the components, rockers, ***** and adjustment nuts, are there. These are Crane part # 11802-16, non self-aligning, heat treated, long slot rockers
OK, thats the 3 items Im looking at. Id like to get the 1.6 Rockers but will those pushrods work with them or do they work only with the 1.5's? Im curious, because I think those rockers might help alot better than the stockers and alot more durable. Are these work it, because the rockers are used and I can grab the 1.5's for about 20 bucks and the 1.6's for like 25-30 bucks........the Pushrods the guy told me he'd sell them to me for about 10 bucks. Im just wondering if these will work, as I havent touched the heads on my LG4, just the cam and the mods listed. Would it be worth it to get any of those rockers and/or pushrods or just leave the stockers on there and maybe one day put some roller rockers on there (highly unlikely but never know). Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Sooo... you want one of us to go looking up part numbers?
Why not go to the manufacturer's web site and look them up and their applicable application. May want to try Summit or jegs as well.

The 1.6:1 rockers will increase the valve lift but also will move the pushrod towards the rocker stud. Your 1982 heads should have a pushrod slot in the head that guides the pushrod. You'll have to carefully check that the pushrod does not contact the end of the pushrod slot in the head with the 1.6 rockers. The cure is to
elongate the slot towards the rocker stud. I do it with a 3/8" rat tail file in a 3/8" electric drill. Could be done with the heads on the car with the intake manifold off and some good housekeeping to catch the fillings in the lifter valley.

Thanks for all the help! I figured there may have been a clearance issue. Now, by putting say 1.6 Rockers on my LG4 with the cam listed, will there be a notcieable power differance? Sorry about all this hassle, its just I dont want to buy parts that are useless for any kinds of power gains....although good price, that mney could go elsewhere, thanks again.

Typically when you switch to a higher ratio rocker like 1.5 to 1.6:1 on a mild small block like yours, you'll see about a 5 to 8ft/lbs gain in torque above 3000rpm and a about equal loss below 3000rpm. so you're trading a little low end for a little top end power.
Usually/typically it helps on the intake side more than the exhaust side.
Basicly it makes the cam act a little "bigger" to the motor. like adding a little longer duration cam. I've found the Crane brand stamped steel rockers to be of good quality. The Comp pushrods are good too.
The only real way to tell is to install them and try it.
Stock heads don't really need more than .450" or so lift to make best power. But once you get in there and port the stock heads they really start to like additional valve lift. (porting a stock head increases the airflow mostly at higher valve lifts.)
Therefore I'd combine the 1.6 rockers with some basic home cylinder head porting and get lots of $bang for the buck$.
Higher ratio rockers put more strain on the rocker stud than 1.5 rockers. While you've got the heads off, porting and elongating the pushrod slots, spend $5 and *Pin The Rocker Studs*.

Well, I dont want to go that deep into the motor, Im just doing a little here and there on this car as Im trying to not pull the heads off or work on the bottom end any. So, I guess Ill get those 1.5's and the pushrods and hope they work lol....Are the Crane 1.5's going to help me out any on this car...I know theyll be more durable but I am doubting any power gains...am I correct? I kinda didnt want to go to 1.6's unless it would help me out or I got some roller tips which Im going to use on my RS when I build the small block for it. Thanks alot.
