Which Throttle Body and/or Intake Manifold to use...... ????

I am very pleased with my engine after the recent build (see sig) but it just does not pull on the top end as well as I want it too. I think my porting on the manifold just isn't cutting it so I am looking at the Edelbrock or the Accel/LPE manifold and a better flowing throttle body. My long term goal is to use the Accel/LPE SuperRam. As far as the TB goes, I am just not sure which way to go: 52mm or 58mm. I am leaning towards the 58mm one, but I have heard that the 58mm is too big for all but the largest cubic inch engines. I would appreciate any input and results after using them, with comparable setups to mine if possible.

Thanks in advance.......

The intake base- go for the cheapest one, they flow the same.

Throttle body- go for 52 mm, it will be enough.

Go with the Accel...im from the corvette forum and alot of people swear by it...a guy with an 87 L98 said the edelbrock base was not up to par..alot of problems with it he said.Accel has the good set up and since you might go superam, keep it a true and tried combo.

For the best street torque, stay with a stock TB...the 52 MM will feel slower, especially with an automatic..I tried the 58, 52, and stock 48 and the stock has the best SOTP pull out them all.

Whn your engine makes 400 plus horses, thats when you can benefit from a larger TB.

Even the Tuner Cars of GM with 502 engines with EFI on them run the stock sized TB..go to a super chevy show and if the cars are there, you can have a good look at them.

What people dont realize is VE or Volumetric efficiency of a 350 engine...the stock set up flows enough to feed it all day long...even with mods.
A few people claim there car was faster with a larger TB in the 1/4..but they never showed time slips..so I didnt get convinced..I tested them myself.

Stay stock until you really make alot of power.
300 plus bucks for a possible fraction of a tenth isnt worth it.

Just corrected myself...when I first replied your signature didnt show up on my screen...Ive seen your mods and ive got to say your combo is aching for a SR intake set up by LPE...a stock base and plenum, etc, ported or not, isnt going to do squat.
You need higher RPM airflow, especially with that camshaft and mods.
Even your torque converter is high for a L98 set up...its good but a shorter intake simliar to a carb set up will help it PULL hard up there.

Have you also considered the miniram by TPIS?
Just a thought.

Speaking from experience, the edelbrock intake is just fine. I had no problems with it. So save some money and get the edelbrock and just clean it up, plenty of material to play with. You are gonna need some better runners also and of course, clean out the plenum.

No problems with the edelbrock piece here. I got a decent gain in the higher RPMs when combined with the Accel runners.

I considered the MiniRam until I saw the price and the number of people with tuning headaches that run the MiniRam. Keep in mind that I will be charged tax on anything from TPIS since they are about a half hour away from my house. The SuperRam is much cheaper for me to implement in the long run I think and I have seen a lot of people with good results from it. I just do not have the money to spend on the entire system right now. I can most likely get enough to get a baseplate soon but not an entire system which is one of the reasons the SuperRam is a better plan for me. If I went with the MiniRam I would have to dish out all of the money for the entire system right away whereas I can get the SuperRam base and pick up the runners and plenum later when I gather more funds.

thanks for the replies....keep em coming....
