Car won't start

I have a 91 Camaro that is my daily driver.

Yesterday I drove from my place to work (about 20 miles) and back, with no problems. Then last night I went to start the car and it won't start. The lights come on, so I know it's not the battery, I have a full tank of gas so the engine isn't starved, the starter works because I can crank it, the motor just doesnt turn over. On Saturday I came back from a 250 mile trip and on the way back there was a wreck on the highway so we were stuck in traffic for a while, but luckily my car did not over heat. Then on Sunday I went to get something out of my car and my remote keyless entry wasnt working but once I got in the car I checked the lights and they worked (I'm telling you this cuz I think it might be electrical.) Also my left turn signal won't click off after I turn, not sure if it's related but I just noticed this Sunday too. I'm trying to give all the info I can think of.

I can't figure out why my car would be running great and then just not start. If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it.

So over the weekend it worked fine and now it doesn't start? When you turn the key to the "on" position without starting it, do you hear the fuel pump prime?

Basically: Fuel, spark, compression. You need to find out which you aren't getting. Starter spins, so it's down to the first 2. Coils are known to just take a poop and die causing a no start. Then again, the fuel system has a few components that do likewise.

after cheaking for fule pump prime i would get a spear spark plug and pull cly 1 wire off of plug and put test plug in if you dont have a spear plug use a flat head and hold it (plug or flat head) about 1/4 inch away from metal ground (do not touch metal of screw driver of point of spark plug unles you like the fealing of a good jult LOL) at this point have some one crank the starter, there should be spark if not your coil could be goon,(it located pass side need cap/roter should have short spark plug wire pluged into it and two wires pluged into it. you could also have it built into the cap im not to sure what year car is i think u said 92?. if it is built into cap it could be your pick up wich is a molgul you can get a auto zone if you have no spark and have more ? PM me and i will try to help you .

i love these "it'll crank but not turn over" threads. must be the wy people say things in differant parts of the country. here if it cranks it is turning over. try some basic trouble shooting them come back and post your results. if you try to help yourself just a little it'll help all of us out and you in turn. remember fuel, spark, copmpression and it'll start. make sure you have spark, spark checker is the way to go there, and fuel.

How's the starter and battery ok if they aren't turning the motor over?
Also you can test the f/p by energizing the 'G' terminal of the ALDL.

I'm a 21 female that just wants to drive my car to work and back, I'm asking for help because I don't know anything. I think your comment was pretty rude, don't you think if I knew what to do I would have done it? I thought on a Third gen technical board I could get help, sorry if I'm ignorant.

Then how are you going to fix it when you find out what's wrong? Got tools, a jack, stands...?

This sounds like a fuel pump failure, the way to diagnose it is to check fuel pressure when the key is turned to the RUN position.

Whip out your fuel pressure gauge, go check your fuel pressure, and report back w/ your findings.

If it's a TBI car, you can remove the air cleaner and watch the injectors for fuel spray while a friend cranks it. Not scientific, but a working fuel pump will show a visible spray from both injector outlets while the engine is cranking.

Invest in a Haynes and Chiltosn manual. It wasn'r rude, it was practical, much like Kev's post.

Checked it and no it doesnt spray, so is there a fuse for it? In the Hayes manual it says there is but then when I looked at mine I didn't see it, in fact my fuse panel looks totally different, is there a difference if my car is a vert?

Also we didnt hear the fuel pump engage when I turned the key. I'm hoping that it's just a fuse... what other ways can I check to make sure it's not the actual pump? Can anyone direct me to the fuel pump fuse as well. Thanks.

There is a 20 AMP fuse located near the battery that will keep the fuel pump from running if it is blown. On your car it is either located on the fender wall near the overflow tank or mounted behind the right headlight near the right side of the radiator. Yes there are two fuses for the injectors, they are located in the fuse block as INJ 1 & INJ 2.

*UPDATE*
Findings so far...

Battery is fine
There is spark on all 8 cylinders
All fuses in the fuse panel and the 20 amp fuse by the battery test good
The fuel pump relay clicks when power is applied to it.
No fuel smell by the TBI and no visible spray, don't hear the fuel pump come on.

Something strange.. there is no wire in Terminal G of my ALDL. I don't know if it fell out, never was there, fell out and pushed into the wrong place by someone else.. etc.. What color is that wire in case it fell out and some pushed it back into the wrong hole?
Nevermind about this.. At the relay I jumped the wire that came from Terminal G at the ALDL which is red to the orange wire that goes straight to the oil pressure switch and then on to the fuel pump. The pump didn't turn on.

I see that the oil pressure switch is in line on the schematic to the fuel pump, How do I test that?

Things I still need to do:
I still need to test the fuel pressure.
Replace the fuel filter
Test the oil pressure switch

Great progress. Double check your schematic, on most 3rd gens the oil pressure switch is in parallel, not series w/ the fuel pump. The pump can be powered *either* by the relay closing, or by the oil pressure switch closing. See what your schematic says.
