Whenever i start my car in the morning it idles really high like 1800 rpm and i have to rev it to make the rpms go down...then it slowoly climbs back up. it does this for about 10-15 mins every morning until i get it warmed up and it runs like a champ.keep in mind the coldest it gets here in so cal is about 40 degrees. Why is this????help me!!!!!it sounds embarrasing in the morning because it is real loud but not in a good way.....no trouble codes either!!!????

Its the way GM set it up. Itll idle high untill the motor finally warms up. Its probably really closer 1400 rpm or so. The factory tachs are always off.
So are you saying all you other thirdgenners experience this??and is it supposed to sound like my uncle fred trying to wake up on christmas morning?????

Just like Dimented said.
Mine is @1500rpm for 4-7min. Every time I start it in the morning.

I've seen 3 posts tonight in the last hour with this same claim. I guess mine was just built better or something. I've verrified both with a mechanics tach, and with my laptop. The thing is dead nuts.Originally posted by dimented24x7
