these prices for engines sound good?
well finally got around to calling the 5 junkyards in town today, only 3 of them had what i was looking for..
one place has both a 400SB and a 350, he wants $400 for the 400sb, he said it has a highrise intake on it and somethin else cant remember.. and he wants $250 for a 350 that has the heads/intake off of it, they were going to do some headwork to it but never got around to it, both are good runners except for the heads on the 350.. both of those prices are the cash and you have to give him your old motor too..
second place i called has a 400SB but they dont know the price on it, hes gonna talk to the boss when he comes in tomorrow and im gonna call him back, see what he wants for it..
third place didnt have anything..
the 4th place didnt have anything either.. well nothing that was good, the guy seemed pretty nice, had about a 5 minute small talk conversation about the car i was puttin it in and stuff, nice guy
the 5th place has the just the block and caps for both the 400 and the 350 for $150 each
those prices seem good? or should i wait it out and try to find one somewhere else?

1. He gives a **** about finding out more information about what YOU'RE doing.
2. He doesn't have anything "good". That tells me that he doesn't have anything he'd want to sell you because you'd probably be unhappy.
3. He left a good enough impression on you that you'd mention him in a thread here.
Besides, all the other places seem high for the 350's. It's hard to say if they're high on the 400's though. That all depends on how difficult they are to find in your area.

yeah he mentioned that the 400s hgave always been hard to find, and he also said that even the 350s are getting harder and harder to find around here, he said most of them that they get are pretty tired and wouldnt be worth putting any money into. this is the same place thats right next to the race track where i go to every sunday to help my buddy who races super stocks. my friend said he would sell me one of his backup engines but he was like $1200 and its already built to about 380 BPH, i want to build it by myself and i dont know if want that much HP.. this place has a dodge omni balancing on the peak of the roof on their office
i paid $100 for a bare 400. i don't think you can find one in good shape for less than that.
i second the guy who you "small talked" with, as he seems to be the one who will get you what you want.
