need some opinions

Well after today my friend and I discovered an inevitable leal on the passenger side runner to intake. So removed the passenger side runner and resealed all the gaskets. We reinstalled the original plenum after I had smoothed many burs and the gaskets interfaces. I also resealed the fpr fitting, the hvac fitting and the brake booster fitting. I replaced the maf with a new bosch and also the tps today. The Iac is also been replaced in the lastweek. The tps was reset along with the iac today. All the sensor connectors were cleaned and checked also. So after reconnecting the battery ground the car would not start, Well after about 4-5 restarts she started to idle finally though rough which I have trouble with ever since. Here is my question the tb is from a 85 vette and the runners and are polished. Well I figured I would have to reset the minimum air also. Well I adjusted the idle stop screw somewhat and the idle started tosmooth out some though did not seem like it was getting enough fuel so I bumped up the tps voltage to .59 and the dramatically improved even more though not100%. Also there was still a popping noise even after the runner leak was resealed and corrected but seemed pretty much gone after theses previous adjustments. This problem is only upon idle. So my question is will I have to continue with adjustments until she will purr again or is there a way to do this. Another problem though is forget about driving her so the ecm can relearn everything again the roc is in upstate NH. Any help thanx Tim

Just a reminder, but you'll want to be certain that the engine is fully warmed and ECM is in closed loop mode when performing any adjustments. If the engine doesn't run well and has difficulty achieving closed loop, just keep fighting it until the engine is hot and you can perform adjustments with at least some confidence that the ECM is in closed loop.

Adjusting while in open loop may temporarily help the operation, but the ECM still needs time to integrate the changes in sensor feedback to the RAM. You may actually want to disconnect the battery for a few minutes to completely clear the ECM and start from scratch.

Also if you WERE having trouble with a leaky gasket on the runner you will need to replace them rather than try to"re-seal" them as you have stated. Once your gasket is crimped by an initial improper install or some of the gasket material is removed/torn that the best thing to do is toss the gasket. Don't use a sealer on these gaskets. Take your time putting the gaskets back on and actually take the time to place each gasket on the runners and then the same gasket onto the base and mock them up before installing. It sounds stupid but its easy to mix up the runners and/or the gaskets. They will still bolt onto the plenum and base but they will leak becasue the mating surfaces will not match. Also watch the bottom gaskets on the runners/intake base. They are easy to bump off on the install and it can be very hard to tell if the gasket has slipped slightly off the runner when bolting them back together. Ask me how I know

Also what is your fuel pressure set at??? A lean condition can give a popping noise as well some times.
