One Final 2.5 Question (Hopefully)!

OK, I've narrowed it down to a fuel problem. My timing was a little off and after setting that, the car is smooth. EXCEPT for startup and full throttle. Just like in a recent post, I have the same problems descibed but I cant get my fuel filter off!! The damn Chicago winters the car has been through have "welded" the fuel line to the filter. I twisted the filter trying to get it off (WHOA!).

Anyhoo...setting the timing with my 2.5 is done by averaging the 1st and 4th cylinders. I followed the instructions on how to do it but the poopin' sticker that tells what the setting should be has a scrach right on the number!! I couldn't believe it! Its an automatic. 8* is what it states for manual trans.

Can anyone hook me up with that number? I put it to 8 just as a test and it seems OK yet still pings slightly. Is it 0*??

Axle/Gears: 3.42
I know on my Fiero the manual and automatic are the same. Both are 8. Hope that helps.
