HELP! why is my gas tank leaking??!!!!

my sis filled it up this morining. I went outside today and I smelled gas. I didn't think much of it just seeing a 70's truck drive by. I figured it was that thing. when I came back home from lunch, using another car, I still smelled it and noticed a puddle under the back of the car. I then looked under it to see drops coming down off the back left heat shield. I smelled it and, yup, it was gas.

What to do now???

the recall is for 89-92 cars.
Don't fill up completely,and you're fine!

where are the cracks? can I still take it in for the recall? does it have to be a Pontiac dealer for my Firebird or can I take to to the Chevy dealer which is much closer?

Try sanding around the area where the filler neck and down tube connect (if this is where it's leaking) and get some of that epoxy putty (Quicksteel, Bondo, ect..) and put that around there.

Epoxy putty is the best invention...

My car had a 'full tank leak' that was caused by the o-ring where the sending unit/pump goes into the tank. It appeared pressure or something pushed the o-ring out on one side.

It is from the neck. The neck seperates from the tank and that is where you will see it leaking.
