383 Strokers

Do 383 strokers make their power on low end or high end RPM's? I was toying with the idea of a 383 with TPI but if the stroker made it's power on top end it wouldnt be a very good combo would it? Just wondering.. I always thought they made the power on low end, but my cuz said they make the power in high rev. I could quite possibly be wrong.. so any response is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

The long stroke gives it more torque but makes it harder to spin at high RPM.

The 383’s make great power at low speed RPMs. As far as top end power, it really depends on how you build it. A 383 Superram (fully ported) motor pulled up in the 6000’s. A Minirammed 383 I built for a friend pulled to 6800 RPM. Wear and tear on both motors were really good, but a lot of thought and invest in parts helped with that longevity. Lingenfelter has built many 383’s that have ran 12’s and 11’s in the quarter and ran 180+ MPH with out problems. 180+ MPH is a lot to say about how well the top end is on 383’s. Going with a good engine builder/machinist is the key. Harder at spinning at high RPM? Only if the guy that built it didn’t built it right.

Maybe I should say "more expensive to spin at high RPM".
