how do I check the tps with out a scanner.
I have a 94 LT1 and it won't run with the maf sensor connected.I disconnect it and it runs fine except that the SES light is on. The reason that I know it isn't the maf sensor is because I have tried 4 different ones. Could this be the throttle position sensor or is it something else? Please help!

hey 94 I don;t think its your TPS,I m not to sure about the LT1 but my L98 was having a werid prob like that, with the MAF sensor, I replaced it and it still did it. You should check your relays, like I said I don't know about yours but with the L98 theirs two relays that connect to MAF. I spent alot of money replacing parts and it turned out to be a 15 dollar relay Also if a relay is bad your SNS light won;t come on. BTW I thought the LT1 had the MAP set up? Well anyway check out the relays

on mine the L98 its the first two on the drivers side. One is the inlet and the other is the out let. Try the one in the middle on drivers side first. That was the one that was bad on mine. Well hope that this helps
94,
The LT1 doesn't have a MAF power relay. It is controlled directly by the PCM. 12VDC is supplied on the pink wire, and the digital FM signal is sent to the PCM on the yellow wire. The black/white wire is signal ground.
Your TPS could be intermittent. Check the voltage output from the TPS with the ignition on (engine off) on the dark blue wire at the TPS. Reference the signal to ground. You should get a 07 to 5.0VDC range from the TPS with a very linear output from idle to WOT positions. If the voltage jumps or drops as you move the TPS, the sensor is likely failing.
