Which convertor and some more ???'s
Ok, let me start out with what my car has:
1982 Camaro Berlinetta LG4/700R4 (swapped in)
- Removed all A/C, heater, and smog equipment.
- installed Summit Cam .442/.465 lift (SUM-1103 I believe)
- removed all CC carb and distributor
- replaced dist. with a 70's style HEI Vac. advance dist.
- replaced carb with a Holley 600cfm (4160 I think) and intake with a Performer
- installed Heddman long tube headers going into 2 1/2 in. dual exhaust dumping into 2 FlowTech Purple Horny's.
- installed Hayden Flex Fan (Big Power gain here :rollseyes
- 3.08 rear gears (not sure, cant ifnd rear end Id number, looked forever for it)
- ACCEL Plugs, 8mm wires, and Thunder Coil
The 700R4 I put in turned out to be bad news. Its been hell to drive with, as when Im driving it, it likes to slip into the next gear and has caused embarrasing times at the track. Therefore, Im going to drop it and I recently acquired a seemingly stock but recently rebuilt TH350. Im wanting to know what Stall Speed I should go with? Im thinking 2800-3200 but would that be too high? I can get a good deal on a 2400 stall but I think thats too low. My plans are to get 3.73 gears put in when I get my taxes back. What do you think I should go with?
Next question is, will the stock Fuel pump suffice? Im wondering that maybe, consdering its a stocker, it may starve the motor for fuel. Should I upgrade to a Holley or edelbrock unit or will this stocker work fine?
Are the ACCEL 8mm wires pretty good. Ive had no problem from them on my RS but then again, this is a differant situation. Ive got to get some new wires cause I need 90 degree ends for my headers....Im not wanting to spend much more but if the 8mm or 8.5mm's will work good, then Ill stick with my next set being them.
Final question is, what do you think it will run? Im not going to run it until I get my gears installed but Im hopping for some low 9's or even a 9 flat...BTW its 1/8th mile. What do you think? Motor is pretty strong, I just need to tune the Holley some more and really am going to have to get some help on it as its totally differant from the Edelbrock/carters Ive worked with. So, whats the predictions?
Thanks for any help.
