fuel filler neck
fuel filler neck
Can a loose fuel filler neck be fixed without dropping the tank? The car leaks when filled up, and the filler neck is loose. I checked but could not find a recall that addresses this problem for 1988 Camaros.
Thanks in advance.

I think you can remove the plastic inner fender panel and get to it. I wouldn't bet the farm on that but as I recall that's how I did it several years ago. At least you can get to some of it.
Thanks to both of you. The picture helps a lot. When I did a search on this subject, many of the posts said the neck was soldered on the tank. Is this correct? How can I fix it safely (and so that it will be safe)? Detailed directions would be most appreciated.
Thanks again in advance.

If I am remember correctly, there was a recall on the 3gen f-body car regarding the gas tank. If your car has not been fixed by the recall, take it to the GM dealer and have them do it for you.

How much is getting this fixed at the dealer going to cost?
Thanks.

How long have been having this problem, if it's a long time, and you're in a high humidity area water in the air is condensating in to the tank over nights, and extended periods of unuse, and will be rusting the inside of the tank including the sending unit, I'd get it fix ASAP. Be sure have a look inside before the tank is discarded.
