when is it time to get a new distributer?
I'm sure my disributer is as old as the car, what kind of problems will worn bushings,pick-up magneto ect... cause? how can I tell if the distributer is still good enough to keep the rotor spining precisely where it should?
When you dissasemble it check the main rod for signs of scoring and a loose fit. If the rod is pited, scored, or sloppy when jiggled then you need a new rod.
You will never get the timing right with a bad distributor.
