Which Head Is Better

I HAVE 3 SETS OF HEADS. ONE SET OF VORTEC OFF OF A TRUCK, ONE SET OF 202 CAMEL BACKS, AND ONE SET OF MERLIN DART II'S. WHICH HEAD IS GOING TO PROFORM BETTER ON A MODERATELY BUILT 350?

Aren't the Merlin's BBC heads? Or am i thinking of something else. I woulg go with the Vortecs by far over the camel crap heads. What are the casting number for the heads?

I AM NOT SURE ON THE MERLINS OR THE VORTECS I DONT HAVE THEM HERE. THE VORTECS ARE BETTER EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE OFF A TRUCK , I THOUGH THERE WOULD BE A DIFFERENCE.

If they are actually vortecs 906 or 062 casting numbers, not TBI heads. Alot of people confuse centerbolt valve cover heads with Vortec. Some people think all centerbolt valve cover heads are Vortecs. So what are yours?

THEY CAME OFF OF A '01 CHEVY FULL SIZE. THEY ARE 300 MI AWAY FROM ME RIGHT NOW AND I CANT REMEMBER WHAT NUMBER THEY ARE. WHEN YOU SAID BBC HEAD, WHAT DO YOU MEAN? I GUESS I WAS JUST TOLD THEY ARE MERLIN DART II'S, THEY COULD HAVE BEEN WRONG.

I can't really help you if you don't know what you have. Those truck heads are not going to do you any good they are LS1 style heads and can't be used on the earlier blocks. Merlin heads are big block heads and can't be used on a small block. So it looks like the only heads that might even come close to working are those camel craps.

ME is correct.

The Vortec heads are the LS-style. Usable Vortecs came in the late 90's, converted to LS-style in '00 or '01. Merlin has nothing to do with Dart; Merlin is made by World Castings, and the II-series are BBC heads. Dart is made by Dart. Camel heads are old technology, but will at least bolt up.

Please turn off caps locks.
