I need a little help please guys

Hello everyone! I didn't know where to put this because I have quite a few questions so I figured hell...just put it in general and hope it gets seen and answered!

I have an 87 IROC that I'm doing some major rebuilding on that you can see here
http://www.jimmy-jams.com/badgirlracing/progress.htm

Here goes...

1- I need a new coolant reservoir tank- does this have to be the original type or is there a place that makes a custom one that looks better??? I have been searching the web and Perrypam.com has the best price on an original but I want my car to rock when I'm done with it so if I could find something much nicer looking that would be great!

2- Does anyone know if a removable type speaker box is out there that will fit in these cars? I want some good SOUND but at the same time hate to put a lot of weight in my car since I'll be racing it as well as hopefully doing some shows. I just don't know if there is a system out there that will allow for me to basically "unplug" the box when I'm headed to the track.....??

3- Is there anyone on this list in the middle GA area that's good with making an engine bay look CLEAN? I am having my new 355 installed soon (switching from TPI to carb) and know the guys that are helping me care NOTHING about appearance so I fear there's going to be a lot of loose stuff and I want this thing to look tight.

4- Is there anyone in the middle GA area that can re-do or chrome my IROC rims? Is there a lightweight version of the IROC rims- those bitches are HEAVY and I have to change to slicks at the track and I'd rather spend much less time trying to get those bitches changed by having much lighter rims......!! (yes I'm a girl and am strong but just don't have that rim-lifting-brute-strength of you guys). I am hoping that we get enough people signed up for the aluminum center caps because that would be amazing!

5- Is there a custom console maker out there?? It's not easy to find a nice new lower console in black (mine is currently in red and I have to go to black).

Ok that's enough questions for now LOL

THANKS GUYS!!!!!

1) Yes, ones from a ford explorer (IIRC) have the coolant resevoir and windsheild cleaner all in one black box that looks pretty spiffy, if you do a search in the body and interior section I believe you'll find it.

2) You can make the speaker box fairly easy to remove if you know what you're doing. Have a wire going from the head unit, to the trunk, and then have a connector from the speaker box to attach to where the wire from the head unit to the trunk is. Then when you go to the trunk just find where the two connect, disconnect them, and take out the speaker box.

3) I'm not in your area, but can give advice. While you have the engine out of the car, steam clean the engine bay, and wax/polish it since it'll probably be the only time you'll ever get to do that lol. Then buy lots of wire looms and clips so that you can route everything the way that you want, and nothing will dangle... this is a very minor "mod" but it makes all the difference.

4) You'll just have to call around about re-chroming your rims. Or just buy brand new ones. I dont know about lightweight rims... I just suggest lifting weights instead .

5) If you need a new console, I'd suggest a 93-2002 Firebird, or 97-2002 Camaro center console. They are much cleaner and slick, and come with a CUPHOLDER(!!!!). Plus, if it's not in the color that you want when you get it, you can just paint it (easier said than done though of course lol).

1.) I don't know where I saw it, but somewhere some one took a factory puke tank, cleaned it (bleach?), put a vertical strip of masking tape on it, then painted it and removed the tape. It was color matched to the engine bay, but still had that little slot where coolant level could be seen. Looked pretty decent.

2.) Not a sound guy. My form of sound is the natural frequencies produced by the engine.

3.) A good degreaser, wire loom, zip ties, and a lot of elbow grease.

4.) Not sure about your area, however, there are aftermarket IROC-style rims out there. I know summit sells versions of them. Don't know about weight, better prices, etc. Again, I'm not a show guy. I go fast and don't care how I look.

5.) I second the 4th gen. console. They look pretty good! I would suggest a manual console for ease of installation around the shifter mechanism if it's an auto trans.

Thanks guys!

Oh and as for cleaning up the engine bay- I'm having the car painted now (right now it's all bare metal!) so I don't mean cleaned that way- what I mean is clean looking, not ten million ugly wires or just stuff bolte on any old way and such....

I've read up about the 4th gen consoles but everything seems to point to it being a pain in the butt because nothing lines right up and I certainly don't know how to cut up a console to make it fit. Thankfully I did locate a brand new looking black one for the 3rd gens! I have a custom shift plate to go with my B&M shifter.

Oh and I guess I'll just go with the regular coolant reservoir bottle but will look for a nicer cap than the factory one.

I'll check into just getting aftermarket rims :-)
