Sorry, I guess I should've asked if you were referring to the Performer carb or intake first.

I bought my first Edelbrock intake 23 years ago, and have been using their products ever since, and I have yet to see any quality issues in the intakes I have bought over the years. I've never had one come to me warped, pitted, or with casting flash (unlike the last Weiand Stealth I bought)
Their quality is on par with any other intake manufacturer out there. Edelbrock even makes some of GM's head and intake castings for their crates too.
I'd like to know what problems you've seen, if you wouldn't mind elaborating. Trending Topics

I use them, and mostly like them, but when I get 7 of 10 TPI baseplates that have certain fuel rail cover holes drilled too far and creating vacuum leaks, it's annoying. When I get castings that are porous as poo, it's annoying. And as for the casting flash and parting lines... nothing to write home about. If you are **** like... Vader
you get annoyed everytime you have to clean one up before you install it. Part of the reason I got a Big Mouth instead of the edelbrock one, TPIS did the cleanup for me for the most part.

Personally, the only place I see a performer being useful is on a truck. Any intake trades one thing for another. Compare the Action Plus to a Holley 300-36 and the Weiand now has a "quality issue" I never used an Edelbrock TPI intake and the question was directed towards carb intakes so I responded in reference to those. I'll have to take your word on the TPI intake quality. I'd go with an RPM, Weiand Stealth or the Holley 300-36 over an Action Plus if I were going to use a dual plane intake on a street performance setup, but that's my preference based on my experience. If he needs EGR, the ZZ4 would work well too.
