car barely running...Help!
I just bought an 86 IROC with a 305 TPI H.O. engine. The car, however, has some problems:
1) When I am stopped, and I try to start going, the car bucks while misfiring continuously, then after a couple seconds of that, it takes off.
2) When on the highway, I was doin about 70, and when I floored it, it slowed down as if it lost all power, but if I only put the pedal halfway, the car would go OK.
So far I've replaced the spark plugs, wires, dist cap, and rotor. I have a timing light, but should be a last resort.
Also, i can hear some sort of a motor coming from the back of the car every time it stalls on me. It sounds like it could be the fuel pump or sumthing.
Wat could be the problem???
Thanks for the help

wellll... 2 things come to mind; intake leak, or egr prob. Use some carb cleaner 'round all intake gaskets, and see if your idle changes, or have your egr operation checked. Dunno, but hope this helps!

EGR should disengage at full throttle so it could be something with the Egr control valve. im thinkin something with the maf sensor or something like that. Something is not tellin the car to add fuel and its bogging out, Could also be a throttle position sensor. but i think that would affect it at idle and while driving. Is the trans downshifting when you punch it? theres a few things this could be.
