1982 CFI firing order

Hello,

just to make sure I made all of the connecitons right, could someone please post the firing order for a 1982 CFI V-8 305?? Or let me know where I can find it?

It turns fine, and sometimes starts to run, but only for a few seconds, then it goes back to just cranking, and cranking, and cranking.....

Thanks,

Thomas

If you only have one or two plugs switched around the motor should still run. Hell, mine will run on four cylinders. Don't ask me how I know that. I think you may have another problem. Did you get that cap on correctly yet? Are you getting spark at all 8 plugs?

you guys are awsome...

well, I got th right firing order. and I started with plug number 1, hooked it to the first connector to the right of the hookup for those little bitty wired for ignition, and then went clockwise around, so that should be fine. It feels to me like I have the distributor cap on fine,... I guess. It sat well and it was easy to turn the ***** to bolt on, and now the engine sputters, something it didnt do before

It turns,.. then sounds like it is trying to start, then sometimes it backfires very loudly and a puff of smoke and flame will shoot up from one of the injectors, then it just turns some more. The passenger side injector does leak a few drops of fuel right after trying to start it, so I wipe it away and it doesnt leak any more,... could that little bit be washing out the cylinders?? arg... I checked all of the wires, they are connected, one has a small burn on it, very small, and it doesnt go through the insulation I dont think, so it should be fine, ... arg....

Thanks guys,

Thomas

Your post contains the answer to your problem.

Move all the plug wires one position clockwise. You have #1 where #2 goes, #8 where #1 goes, etc.
