oh no!
I just found out that when I try to reinstall my A/C compressor on the mount, it hits the tall valve covers I bought for my roller rockers.
There does not seem to be a way of getting it to mount without realy going nuts on the brackets.
The motor is an 87 from a TA with V belts. A/C is on the drivers side with the funky 4 piece brackets and power steering pump.
Do all roller rockers need tall covers?
I really don't want to remove my A/C but I don't see a quick solution unless I can go back to short covers.

See if the covers fit with the new rockers... Stud girdles are the usual culprit. I fit rollers under my old center bolt covers with no problems...Then again , I never had any clearance problems with tall covers either.

Thanks,
They look like it will be real close.
good to know someone had luck with them under stock covers.
I'll give it a shot (and cross my fingers)

I just fit a set of Crane Energizer roller rockers under a set of 4248 (low profile (stock height)) Edelbrock Elite Series perimeter bolt covers... This is on my e-tec heads...

Another way to look at this is that it might be a cool oppurtunity to upgrade to a serpentine belt setup.. You can find them on 88'-up caprices or firebird/camaros.. You might need a different alternator and a new a/c hose assy, but just throwing the idea out there..
Yeah, I bet those will fit with standard height covers.. Do your tall valve covers interfere with the a/c evaporator box towards the back?? When I had tall edelbrock covers on my old red bird, I had to modify (cut
) some of the evaporator box to get the covers on... Wish I would have known then that I never even needed them..

Is it the compressor itself that doesn't clear the covers, or a brace? I just checked my '86 (same setup) and have at least 2½" of clearance above the stock covers before there would be any compressor interference. Just how tall ARE those covers?

I've drooled over several of those setups but it is just too much for one winters effort.
Last year was the complete rewire to the 730, this year was to "pretty" it up. The heads were an afterthought that has taken me down a road looking for HP.
I got the set of assembled heads for $300 and just couldn't look the other way.
The rollers were given to me from a F*&D guy so I figured I'd use them since they were brand new. (why he had Chevy parts still is a mystery)
The rear at the evap is really good clearance (cause it's a G body), the front end on the drivers side is the only real issue.
There is just no way to use the tall covers with the A/C compressor there. The bracket mounts to the head and the exhaust manifold, then onto the intake and power sterring pump. It would be a serious PITA to change it now.
Spring time I will be putting in the posi rear that has been mocking me all winter. It was the actual ONLY thing I was going to do to the car because it ran so good I couldn't get off the line without taking out timing.
Next year will be the headers, X member and true duals with crossover. (probly an intake setup if I can swing the funds)
did someone say blower? Hee.. Hee..

The rear outlets onthe compressor are the main problem. They need to come down another 1-1/2" aprox. Seems to be the added height of the tall covers. I'll try to scrounge up some centerbolt covers and see if they fit. Perimiters may have better internal clearance though.
also just noticed I put up the wrong pic! you really can't see the bracket when I trimmed it to size.

that's pretty much it there Vader,
I'd better check if the brace will go on too!
Forgot about that.
Well if I go back to the short covers all should be well. Worst case is I have to put my stock rockers back on (boo hoo..)
Looks like you had to do some fab on the bracket too. Was that to get headers on?
