Diagnosing a bad ECM....
Diagnosing a bad ECM....
Anyone know how I can test to see if my ECM is good without swapping in a new one. How can I test the existing unit? My friend jolted himself on the altenator while finishing up a header install and the car won't start. I've tried every possible fix except the computer. Any help here would be appreciated.

Dave,
When you first turn on the ignition, watch tyhe MIL lamp. The light should flash on briefly, then off briefly, then back on. It should remain on until the engine is running. If the lamp does not flash once like this, the ECM is not passing the initial self-diagnostic routine and may have a problem.
Make sure the lamp comes on. If it doesn't operate at all. you may need to check the ECM/fuel pump fuse.
