350 Bare block questions.
Ok, my TA has a turbo buck V6 in it. Its fun and different, but I have to get my V8 power back!!!! Tired of turbo lag. I purchased a used 1988 ( roller cam ) block with 2 bolt mains.
It was just bored 60 over. what do you guys think about that? Is 60 too much for a high performance build? Also, it had about 1 inch of powedered rust in the back of the water jackets. to the bottom of the freeze plugs. Is that ok?
How much power can I get out of the 2 bolt and a steel girdle with an ARP stud kit.

-edit- because i'm not a very good as<x>shole-
i'd sugest selling the turbo GTA, and buying something pre installed with a V8 - if the turbo buick is installed and running right, you will have NO problem selling it for a good price.
that muncie is definately not helping you either.. try dropping in the correct tranny, with the huge gaps between the gears in the muncie, you are dropping off boost every time you shift.

Answer to you questions.
The guy that I bought it from said that he used the buick's 200r4 tranny with a custom drive shaft. as far as the engine goes, he did switch the heads from the RWD 3.8 to the FWD 3800 v6 heads. The car IS NOT A TTA!!! Its just a 1992 TA. The motor came out of an 85 GN. He mated the Buick 109 block with the 3800 heads, and it fit just fine. There is your answer.
Answers to your questions in order.
NO ITS NOT A JOKE, you should look into things befor you open you mouth. I helped build this setup. I WAS THERE, YOU WERE NOT!! Do you keep up with GN's Or do you only know how to build carburated V8's?? My world doesnt just end there.
YES im sure its a turbo V6, refer to last answer.
Its a 200r4 with a custom drive shaft.

Why doesnt it exist? because you dont know anyone who can do what I did??????
Thank you philoldsmobile, I can send you pics if you like.
Well, none of you helped me with any of my questions. I have been dealing with Buicks for ever. My questions were simple, no one asked for your opinions on my car.

Okay, this is the first time I've looked at this thread. I'd suggest you all cool it and keep your comments technical in nature.
As for your original question: The block sounds questionable. I'd at least get it sonic tested for cylinder wall thickness. The rust sounds strange, should have been tanked before boring to get that crud out.
You shouldn't need a girdle. Splayed 4-bolt caps would make more sense. 450-500 HP should be do-able if the walls check out. Of course, the whole thing should be built with the intended power in mind.
