tools/help needed?

Im changing my heads, headers, cam, motor/tranny mounts and timing chain. What tools will I need? Any hints or suggestions? I have never removed my valve covers before.

My list of things to get (besides major parts) consists of:

head gaskets
valve cover gaskets
intake manifold gaskets
timing cover set, chain
thread sealer(what kind for head bolts?)

Anything else I will need? I need to remove the radiator, correct? What about cam installation? All help is greatly appreciated =)

One more thing, can anyone recommend a good brand of pushrods/rockers? How long do they need to be, and what diameter? I was looking through my summit catalog and the prices really vary by a lot.

Btw, this is an 87 305 with tpi. Im putting a stock LT4 cam in with some ported aluminum L98 heads.

I just did that same thing on my 87T/A. There is a tech article on an in car cam swap around it explains almost everything. Do you have a roller motor or non roller, alot depends on that. I had a non roller motor so i used the summit TPI cam kit and summits standard SBC pushrods and Elgin 1.5 rockers. I got a set of Torquer 305's unassembled and used manley street flow valves with the springs that came with the cam. The car has ALOT more power than before but still maintains everyday driveability and economy by going with the milder summit TPI cam. To get the full benefit and also world products recomends with the torquers you should use headers and a free flowing cat back (I used SLP all the way with a catco cat). This combo performs well for my 305 and has made my T/A alot of fun to drive

It is a roller block. I was looking at putting an LT4 stock cam in. I have headers and borla exhaust, just need the high flow cat.
