Legend Nodular Iron (cast steel) cranks
I was just doing some lookin around on ebay, and came across Legend crankshafts, they are sayin that there cranks are the same thing as Scat call there 9000 series in that there both cast steel.
This is from there website legendrods.com
LEGEND NODULAR IRON (CAST STEEL) CRANKSHAFT FEATURES

OEM Replacement, Performance/Limited Race Applications
Strong .062 Journal Radius Allows Use of OEM Bearings
Journals Polished to 6 R.A. or Better
Chamfered Straight Shot Oiling for Superior Oil Management and Durability
All Cranks are, Ultrasonic Tested and Magnafluxed to Ensure a Lifetime of Dependable Operation
ALL Critical Dimensions are Inspected
Target Boob Weights for Less Time at the Machine Shop
And this is what the seller on ebay has:
STROKE, 3.480"
BALANCE, EXTERNAL
TARGET BOB WEIGHT 1870 +/- 2%
ROD JOURNAL/BEARINGS (2.100") Clevite MS909P
MAIN JOURNAL/BEARING (2.449) Clevite CB663P
RODS, USE 5.700" OR 6.000" RODS
USE, 600HP, 7250RPM
Now arnt nodular iron and cast stell 2 different things, and would they be worth there 165.00 price tag that they have on ebay. Or should you have your stock crank checked and balanced.
Oh and are the cranks in L98's cast or nodular?
Kevin

Where are they manufactured?
How many times will they guarantee that they will go to 7250 RPM @ 600HP?
I could say in my ebay ad copy that a Kia and a Camaro are the same thing; they both have 4 wheels. I might eventually get negative feedback though.
If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

You are correct, Nodular Iron & Cast steel are two different types of material with different properties and strength. The terms can not be interchanged when describing castings. But cast steel would be the stronger of the two when used for crankshafts..

There website is Legend rods It states "We've provided private label import and domestic h-beam/i-beam race rods, cast/forged crankshafts to brand name companies and some of the largest mail order performance suppliers in the world"
They do offer rods from sportsman I beam up to a billet 4340 rod. They also offer the nodular iron, 4130 forged, and a 4340 forged steel.
Ive never heard of them personally. RB I know how the sellers on ebay are, and ill try to find out where they are made at.

If they are $165, and you may be questioning their quality, why not just buy a cast steel crank from Scat, they sell for like $195 on E-bay. Just a suggestion. If you find out more info on them, maybe they are a quality brand, just do some investigating...before you do any "investing" in there products.
