starter & flexplate

Doe's the number of teeth on the flexplate have to coincide with the number of teeth on the starter? I have a factory mini starter that has the offset bolt pattern and need to know what flexplate to get.

If the starter you have has the staggered bolt pattern then it's for use with a 168 tooth wheel.
