305 -> 350 cam in 305...need reprogramming?

yeah so i got the 91 305 tpi auto with the peanut cam...350 .384 179 194 with 109 separation. the 5 spd cars had the 350 cam which was 413 .428 202 207 with 114.5 separation which gave them 25 more hp.. i bought a cam for a 88 350 TPI which is just a bit bigger than the 92 350 cam .415 .430 207 213 with 117 separtion, and i am gonna put that in my 305 to replace the peanut cam.. question is, will i have to get a custom PROM burned to get it to run good or what?

thanks

PS:while i am at it, think i'll get a noticable gain from this swap? 1/4 mile time wise?

you're going to get like 20 horsepower maybe out of that. and yes, tuning is a must. if you're going through all that trouble, why not go bigger?

well i got the cam for a pretty good price..so i'll use it cause i got it..the motor is comin apart anyway to stop a smokin problem so i'll do this while i am at it. computers are ghey, i hate them. that sucks i'll have to get one burned. reason for not going bigger also is because i am in the process of buildin my other motor(400) so don't wanna spend much more than i have to on the 305 but would still like to hit 14's before takin it out.

"Pretty good price" better be about $25, because that's really all it's worth. I'll sell you an L98 cam for that much, and LT1/LT4 cams go for $50-75.

plus $100 in gaskets, fluids, and tools... plus chip reprogramming... and around 10 hours of labor if you've never done it before.

go bigger.
