Engine Fan comes on while checking Codes?

Transmission: 700R4
Engine Fan comes on while checking Codes?
When I do the paper clip diagnostic on my 90 Iroc(Crossing pins 5 & 6), the drivers side cooling fan comes on. Is this normal or is something screwed up?

this wont help but mine sometimes does the samething, not sure if its supposed to or not though since it only does it sometimes.
