Brake light problem, need help fast

My brake lights always worked fine, then they both stopped working then they both started working again, now the drivers side works and the passenger side brake light won't work, the blinker on that side won't work either. But the tail lights come on with the headlights. I tried a new bulb but that wasn't it. Please help if can, leaving for college soon!

inspect the wiring in the trunk for any damage. I'm not sure what the schematics are for it off the top of my head so I don't know how everything is run. I might have time to look it up this weekend if you want to email me

Check for power at the sockets in the back.

Sounds like a turn signal switch assembly. They break in the column and work intermitantly as the wires ground out against the inside of the column.

Im having a very similar problem with my 86 Trans Am...And its weird cause all the wiring looks fine and i cant figure it out,and my left turnsignal and brake light dosnt work, well the left front does but the problem seems to be in the rear left tail lights and all the grounds are find too...Im stummped and wondring if it could possibly be the turn signal lever or where the wires connect to it like you guys were sayin.Any one have any ideas?

When I step on my brakes, the dash board lights up as well as the indicators? Possessed, I think so.
