Motor mount replacement
Motor mount replacement
Can this be done with the engine in car without too much difficulty? A friend of mine said you can jack up (slightly) one side of the motor at a time to change the mounts. Is there anything to be leary about with this method? Thanks.

Teddy, hehehe... I just did both of mine yesterday. I definately think that if you're gonna do it, remove the A-arm and get it out of your way. I've read some of the previous posts about how annoying the job get be with the suspension in place.
When we (Karl Hunter and I) had the A-arm removed, everything was accessible. We basically used an air ratchet and a butterfly impact on the bottom, and held a wrench in place to hold the head of the bolt on the top.
One thing you wanna do, is to place a rag in the cross member... I had to use a magnet a couple of times to retrieve a socket that went flying from my butterfly.
Other than that, I used a jack with a couple of big square pieces of wood under the oil pan and jacked up the engine just enough to give me clearance to remove and insert the new mounts..
I assume you got the polyurethane mounts? Also, if you have access to a welder, weld the mount housing together... that's what we did.. and it was definately the way to go.. no screwing around with zap straps and all that..
oh yea.. it also really helped to have a someone outside of the car to hold the wrench from the top while the other uses focuses on the impact tool on the bottom..
