Puzzling Problem... Tranny???, Fuel??? Please Help.
On the 383 listed in my sig (non-third gen), I am having a puzzling problem.
Around 4000 rpm, in first gear only, it seems like I run into a wall. The car ceases to pull and the rpms stop climbing. The motor sounds fine, not dropping any cylinders or anything. When I switch to second gear i can rev to 6000 rpm.
It gets stranger, I had a 3.42 rear in it last summer and it did the same thing. I grenaded that rearand and put in a junkyard special that housed 2.41 gears. I could rev up to 6000 in every gear. Now with a different rear that houses new Richmond 3.42 gears and a Powertracks locker, I experience the same thing.
So my question is, what is causing this strange problem with the lower ratio rearends?
Could it be fuel delivery? I am running a stock replacement from a chain store.
Could it be something in the tranny?
Could it be....????
Need more info-- just ask
Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks

Does this sound plausible? I have a turbo 350.
Am I reving so quick that I am draining the tranny pan of fluid?
---or---
Do I have a real restrictive filter in the tranny, and it can't get enuff fluid?
Neither????
