Lots Of Unburned Fuel!!!

Swapping motors 305 to a 350 with a newer wiring harness out of a 88 TPI camaro. (the motor is a 350 tpi in a 86 camaro) Has spark and fuel but will not stay running. Only attempts to fire and sounds like its back firing, then a huge cloud of unburnt fuel comes from the exhaust. I thought it was maybe timing but i never touched the dist. and it was set in fine in the car it was taken out of so it should still be set. Out of ideas and tired of running into problems on this car. Any ideas!

i would verify the timing before asking for help. at anytime while the motor was pulled, anyone or anything could have bumped into that cap and caused it to move.

I concurr with TraviZ... shouldnt assume that the timing is good unless you've checked it yourself (it's not that hard to do even).

If you need to find out how to check your timing, then search up "timing" I've made a couple posts thoroughly explaining how to do so.

thanks for the help, i checked the timing and it was way off, ,like maybe 20* . I pulled the computer advance cable and reset it to 6* advance then it ran fine. But when i plugged the computer advance back in it wouldnt even start. So i unplugged it and it started fine again. What the F*** ! Any ideas maybe a bad timing module. (one by the master cylinder)
