Oil In Breather top

I just bought a 91 Camaro RS 305 ....it seemed to be running fine (except for the alternator going bad) ...and i took off the breather top to check the air filter and was greeted with a puddle of oil in my breather....the filter and the breather element were covered in oil (and quickly replaced)....but i dont know how the oil came up through there...could anyone help??

The PCV runs into the TB, I don't think the oil would work against gravity and vacuum to get into the airbox. I know that my TBI Airbox has a layer of oily film in it usually. Don't know where it comes from tho.

I heard it could do that. Don't know from experence cause I don't have one and I never let a car get out of tune.

I would look at some vaccum diagrams and make sure it's right. Should be one under the hood. Some folks do some bad butcher jobs on these cars.
