K & N X-Treme Top Plate

Does anyone run this with an open element air filter? Right now, I have the K&N open element filter, with the shiny chrome K&N top to it. Would I notice any gains by adding this filter as my top piece (I assume I could do this?)? Or would it really be pointless unless I'm running a tonne of power and need the extra air?

Im sure you dont need any more air flow unless you've got something that demands all that air, liek a blower.

I use one. The more clean are I can get into the engine the better. It helps to have an open area above the filter. If the top of the filter is just below the hood then it's not worth it.

So on a stock hood, there really wouldn't be much air getting in there then, right? Making it pointless to spend $50 on it?

why would you wanna use it with a stock hood? the insulation would jsut block it so you wouldnt see any gain what so ever but if you had a cowl hood or something it might help a little.
