87' Firebird Formula w/350 TPI : RPM problems...

I have an 87' Firebird Formula w/ a 350 TPI system. The engine has about 15000 miles on it. The problem is that after about3700-4000 RPM it won't pull anymore. I have replaced the fuel pump, strainer, fuel filter, fuel preasure reg.(also installed an adjustable), plugs, wires, distributor cap & button,02 sensor and the module in the distributor(it died). One more thing, while I had it plugged into a OTC 4000 it showed that the BLM would go to 255 after driveing for a little while. The TPS and IAC are set, and the O2 count is good as well(altough it smells rich at idle). Any suggestions would be great! TIA

OK. I went back and set the timing, TPS, IAC, and set the fuel preasure to 44 PSI static. I runs somewhat better(pulls real good) up until 4200 now, and then it just drops off. I'll keep trying....

Well, I kept digging through the archives and found the answer to my own question. Thanks to anyone that read this and at least gave it some thought.

So what was the problem? Was the fuel pressure dropping off?

Bort62 you hit it on the head. I didn't realize that these systems had this limitation from the factory. This is the only one that I have and I didn't buy it new. I thought something was "wrong" with it. So, I guess my new question would be: What do I need to do to it to make it turn up a little more? I will be looking through the archives in the mean time and see what I find.

Any suggestions on the BLM going to 255?
