tech q's on new dist and carb
I got an edelbrock 1406 carb for my 84TA and an Accel HEI w/vac advance. How do i tell if the dist is full(vacuum at idle) or timed(no vacuum)? Were can i get an EGR block off plate? also i need a new air cleaner that will fit under the hood and use my K&N filter that i allready have.

the distributor will have the vacuum advance coming off the bottom of the distrib if so equipped..
you can make you're own EGR blockoff plate if you own a drill and a hacksaw.. you can make it out of anything but i would get one made at a shop.. i don't know why you would want to blockoff your EGR, it helps to prevent detonation under WOT (wide open throttle) by lowering combustion temperatures..
it's closed under idle and cruise, only really beneficial under WOT..

b/c the new carb wont fit on with the egr. i am in the process of removing the computer stuff anyway. the new dist and carb are non cc. i will be eventually getting a new intake but need the block off until then.
How can i find out if the dist is timed or full?
