A/C compressor duty cycle?

I recently did the vbelt to serp swap from tacreations and I added the r134a today. Well it works but the a/c compressor makes terrible grinding noises when its engaged, which happens to be quite often. It wants to run constantly when ideling and it runs for about 5-10 seconds then its off for only 1-2 seconds when going down the road. Can anyone shed some light on this?? Thanks.

You did only install 80% of the A/C systems rated capacity of r134a, right. Too much could cause some noises and kick the high pressure switch out going down the highway. Not enough r134a could also kick the low pressure switch out going down the higway as well, but won't cause any noise.

350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, current red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

I got the kit from wal-mart and used the tech article as a guide https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...ofitac.shtmle.

It would only take about half of the last can though. I'd guess about 35oz total r134a. Should I try to get the last half can in there? Thanks.
