Fuel Gauge don't work worth 2 cents
Fuel Gauge don't work worth 2 cents
My fuel gauge is all over the place. I filled her up full yesterday and when I went around a corner it floated down to empty. And it goes back and forth and never gives me an acrurte reading. Matter of fact every time I fill up I've never put more than 9 gallons in the tank. So WTF gives??
What can I do to correct this problem? Anyone know?

possibly the pickup? not sure on that one..
GM gauges will always zero to the TOP if there's no power going to the gauge..
that's my guess, if it's going way down to the bottom either your pickup could be toasted or something of that nature.. if you don't believe me, unplug your oil pressure sender and look at the oil pressure, the gauge will be straight up..

That is very interesting that it goes all the way up... Mine goes way over F until I get to about 1/2 tank, then it acts normally to E. It started doing this a few months ago. I am assuming it is a bad ground wire at the tank (or where ever it is).
BTW- Autometer gauges act the same way as GM factory gauges...

Mine does the same darn thing. They always move some as you're going arounds turns and junk since the stock tank isn't baffled very well and fuel sloshes around. Mine always did that but lately it just goes hayway if I brake hard or corner hard. Gotta be wiring or the sender or something related...
