Aftermarket radiator that fits under stock shroud?

Is there one? I've heard of Griffin and Be Cool, but are there others, and do they fit unde the shroud? Thank.

That's about the only two I've heard of. I have the BeCool. Expensive as he!!, but well worth it for the great cooling help. 98 degrees with high humidity the other day and still never went over 175 degrees.

Any 19x31 GM style rad will fit. A 4 core may need a little modifications to work.

The griffin universal fit GM 19x31 won't fit w/o cutting. They also have direct fit radiators as well as Be Cool but the price pretty much doubles.

Give Summit a ring, they'll hook ya up.

Does anyone have a pic of one of the generic radiators installed? I am willing to cut a little bit if it is going to save me a few hundred dollars. Thanks!

I had to fab top mounts to hold the radiator and fans and also to tip it back some in the bird as the radiator cap hit the hood. Also if your car has the stock engine oil cooler, you need to find a way to mount the 3/4" return line into the bottom radiator hose (Or some other low pressure area), remove the rubber bumpers in the bottom of the support and use something thinner, and I also cut some material off the top and added a plate of T-6 to hide the chop. There's 1/4" rails on the top and bottom of the griffin where I drilled 1/8" holes for self tappers to hold it all. Going over the top with a support seemed impossible in my case as there's about 1/8" of hood clearence... Also you need a seperate trans cooler.

Your install looks good. If I understand you corretly, the bottom end fits in nicely if the rubber bumpers are replaced with something different. The fan doesnt look like it is too hard to mount. Is there any way you can give me the measurements for the custom brackets you made? Is there anything holding on the front of the piece of aluminium, or is it just attached to the radiator? Thanks, the picsc helped a lot.

I think I will try the fiberglass method. I like the staighter lines of it. How did you mount the fan?

Yeah, I'm talking to you, you got a problem? J/k. Do you have any suggestions for me if I use the fiberglass method? How would the fiberglass mount to the radiator? Thanks.

Nope. Take your time, and do it right. You can either drill holes along the top of the radiator where there is a 1/2" to 3/4" lip and secure the shroud that way, or just make the fiberglass really tight around the radiator top. When it's dry, take it off and put some 3/16" foam inside to make it even more snug. If you're feeling really squirrely, mount your fan first and you can make the shroud form fit around that as well at the same time...

I'm sorry... I know the 'glass loooks pretty and all, but....

Try something different, as all this work would negligate the reason of getting the 'cheaper' rad.

I mean.. I don;t have the dementions of the brackets off hand, but I will say I threw many of them away trying to get the 'right' fit. I will measure them if you wish... and I even had the drawback of mounting the MAF, and my bracket mounted the MAF and the fan on the pass side (like stock). The glass looks great by the way, but I trust only metal under severe heat under my condit's (vibes and heat.......)

I would just be using the fiberglass as a dress-up piece. I would find some way to mount the top of the radiator more securely. Anyone know of the cheapest place to get one of these radiators?
