Lets play: name that leak

Crank pulley has a bunch of coolant in it, so it shot coolant out everywhere. All the hoses are pretty wet, alternator and hood are soaked. What is leaking?

Water pump may be bad, bottom radiator hose could also be bad. Clean everything up and get it going again and watch carefully. Once the water starts running on to pulleys and belts it will get everywhere. Either the bottom hose or water pump could leak water right on to the pulleys and belts.

Check to make sure that the coolant is not coming out of the water pump weep hole on the bottom of the pump. If it is then that is a good sign that the pup has failed. You could be getting some serious overheating issues soon if that's the case. Just check to be sure, and if it is the case: replace the pump.

duhh weep hole on bottom, okay

I checked the water pump, the radiator hose..both dry. I checked the coolant, it looks alright, so I added some water and a little coolant with the engine idling for about ten minutes. Guess what, no leaks!

I wonder why, Im kind of confused now.

The back cover on the water pump leaked directly onto my balancer. You should check that out.

Great news, I have to drive 40 miles to school tomorrow and it started leaking again. It turns out that there is a hole in my radiator that causes the coolant from the top 1/3 of it to spray out through the cooling fan(all over the place)and onto the crank pulley(all over the place X2!) What luck. Im pulling my radiator when I get back anyway to change my cam, what should I do to fix it and make sure it NEVER leaks again? I will bookmark this and read it in a few days when I get back, thanks guys.

For a temporary fix until you buy a new one....get a tube of epoxy puty or JB Weld. That stuff usually hold up for a good 6 months depending on how large of a hole it is.

Just get a 3 core radiator from autozone, its not worth messing with that one. Its shot, they are pretty cheap, like $110 maybe.

the autozone one should come with metal side-tanks instead of the plastic ones..

I pulled the radiator today, it turns out that my passenger side fan had been moved somehow and was cutting into the rows of the radiator! There is a 'C' shaped groove, with the center cut through, making the leak. I figure it can just be welded, its not a very large hole.
