i assume the 120lbs is open pressure?
if you have some old softies laying around, they would be ideal for break-in. Or if the new springs, are dual coils, remove the inner coil, and break in with just 1 coil set.

Be sure to add a bottle of GM E.O.S. to the oil for initial fireup to help reduce the change of scuffing off a lobe.

Set to the proper installed height (1.700"), those 981 springs will be fine. Just make sure the installed height is no lower than about 1.685", and no higher than 1.715".

981 are what comp recommends, i'm not running 981's though. These are 120lb springs that clear .540 lift easy, they came on the vortecs. the 981's are what i put in my 2nd post, 110lb'ers. I just need a 105-110lb spring I guess, don't feel like paying $60 bucks for some of comps though. I used to be able to get z28 springs for $1 a spring.
