Coolant leaking onto passenger side floor...

Today i smelled coolant in my car and i pulled up the passenger side floormat to find about 1/2 inch of coolant puddled up under there. I took off one of the plastic panels under there and i can see it is dripping from where two plastic pieces are joined with a screw.
What exactly is the problem, and what needs to be done about it?

Your heater core is leaking. If you don't want to replace it right now (a big job), you can bypass it in the engine compartment where the heater hoses go into the firewall.

Roughly how many hours would it take to replace the heater core(also how much would it cost)? I've heard its a pain in the *** . To bypass it i would just connect the two heater hoses together right? This would also mean my heater wont work until i replace the core?

Thats what it means. No big deal in the summertime though.

Its probably a one day job for most people between fetching parts and beer time. I could probably do one in about an hour if I rushed it, but why do that is what I say.

The core is about 50 bucks, whatever you do DONT get a cheapo. The last thing you want is to have to replace it because it was a cheap piece of junk. Get new hoses and clamps while you are at it.

What is involved with replacing it? Is there a tech article anywhere for it?

essentially the dash needs to be loosened to give access to the heater core.

Enjoy

I think so. https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/t...atercore.shtml

You can get away with not loosening the dash at all.
