New engine, not wanting to fire up...
I finally wrapped it up last night and tried to fire it. Brand new bearings, rings, basically a brand new motor. This damn thing won't start, I had my battery charger on jump start and was outside for like 20 minutes hitting the starter and pumping the pedal and it tries to start and I hear it sputter like 3 cylinders fire and it just won't fire up. I did lube the cylinder walls when I assembled it, a buddy of mine told me it won't start easy until all the lube in there is gone. Im seriously getting frustrated. The opti is on correct, plugs are in the correct order, correct plugs, gapped @ .45, fuel pressure is good, datamaster is not showing any DTC codes, all sensors are functioning correctly. I have fuel, I have spark and all vacuum lines have been triple checked. Any tips on firing a new engine? I am so close to just calling some buddies and have them help me push start it.

um check to see if you have compression. you have fuel and your getting air thats what you need to start a motor. well hmm... fireing order is corect?? and all the fuel injection stuff is on correct triple check all of that. i bet it's somthing simple

just go over the basics, you need fuel, spark, and compression for a motor to run..
make sure there is gas getting to all of the cylinders.. check the compression on all of the cylinders, and check for spark on all of the cylinders, thats all the advice i can give you, sorry, i hope it helps!

An old coworker of mine replaced some leaking intake gaskets on his LT1 Vette, and had a difficult time starting it back up. Sounded like some ignition wires were improperly routed, but it ended being the injectors. Somehow he managed to mix up the connectors to the injectors. Maybe you did the same
Also, no matter how sure you are of double and triple checking things, often a fresh eye can quickly spot something you've overlooked many times over.

Thanks for the tips marc, but the injector connectors are numbered and I did confirm they are in the correct order. I believe I found my problem. I am running #42 lb injectors and have them set to run at 32.5 lb's. I believe the engine is getting to much fuel. I pulled a spark plug and it was wet with fuel. I unplugged the injectors and continued to crank it with just spark to burn some fuel and put the injectors back in and it almost got a complete firing order. I also bought some starting fluid to help it along. I'll try setting the injectors to the full size of #42 to see if that helps, if not i'll put my stockers back on. I also confirmed that the rockers were not too tight and are not the problem, thank you all. I'll update this when I get out of work.
