Dollars to donuts it's a goodwrench 'heche en mexico' motor with the dished pistons et al. My first thought when I saw the compartment and all the stuff disconnected like a/c and air.
My suggestion would be to take a few more -but smaller pics, particularly underneath the car and motor as well as a few shots of the intake and carb so we can try and determine what you have.
That car is probably so underpowered you more than likely won't notice the SFCs if you do them first unless you really dig into the corners or if the body had been previously abused. Still a very good first mod choice... but mine would be to overhaul that coolant system.

I knew my eye sight was a litle off, but that second picture of the valve cover Justin posted scared the H*** out of me, it's not just off, it's really bad, guess it's time for new glasses.
I found my block casting number on the passenger side rear ledge, seeing as i can't trust my eyeballs (no pun intended) I had someone else look at it. The number is 14093638 which Mortec list as a 87-95 sbc 350.

Red Devil's right.... cooling system revamp would be a good idea. Also get a new Window Washer fluid resevoir... those things are diiiiiiiiirty! If I was you, After you swap resevoirs with nice ones, I'd take it to Jiffy Lube or any other no-name shop and have them flush the cooling system. I think it's like 100 dollars or close (yes, raped w/o lube) but it looks like in your case it would be well worth not having to go through the stuff that might happen if you leave that setting for too long.
Should get rid of the A/C canister on the firewall like previously mentioned, that's just an eyesore.
Looks like the driver's side of the fan shroud is being held up by a zip-tie... should find a more aesthetic way to hold that up lol.
From the picture it looks like you might have a new master cylinder and power brake booster... as well as a new radiator cap.
AIR seems to be equipped to your car still, but if the SMOG pump has been deleted then you might as well want to take it out and cap it off.
The picture makes it look like it's time to change your air filter... and you should do a full tune-up to the car while you're at it (include PCV valve in this tune-up since in the picture it looked like there was oil caked on around it... that's not normally a good thing lol).
You should take off the air cleaner assembly, and take a picture of the carb for us so we can help you to determine what it is. Also of the distributor.
Also, move that wire that's being melted on the driver's side exhaust manifold. If you look at the picture, it's the black looking thing with green insulation (or whatever the rubbery stuff is
)
You should probably take off a valve cover and grab the casting number off of it for us as well, we can help you use mortec to find out what heads you're using. Be prepared to buy new valve cover gaskets though... but good thing that they're only 15 dollars or so

I'm intrigued as well to find out what this motor is!
Also, that car looks friggin amazing! All you need now is some nice chrome 18's to roll on

All right, I've got some more info (and cleaned up pics) for you...
First off, the car got taken to our mechanic. Interestingly, it already had SFC's, so that's good to go. Next, the engine is not a 305, it's a 350. He said he could tell by the way it was designed, it came out some time after 86, I believe...
So that's kinda cool...
That said, what sort of gas mileage would one expect to get? I'm getting around 13-14, which with the high gas prices and all, is really really bad... I mean, it is a 350, but jeez....
Complaints aside(
) I have some new pics.. Today was spent washing and waxing, and I think she turned out pretty well...

looks good man. You really need to check the casting numbers though to tell if its a 350 or 305, because they look the exact same from the outside.

The center bolt valve covers was a post-86 design difference correct? maybe that's what he was referring to?
However, IIRC that just means it's post -86, not 350 or 305...
