Good cam or no?

Hey, I was just wondering if this is a good cam

Lunati Bracket Master II Cam and Lifter Kits

http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...1&autoview=sku

Its in a 350 thats modified. Double hump ported heads, holley 600 cfm carb, 350 bored to 358.

I'm not too well versed in reading cam specs. I'm not sure if this cam is appropriate for a car that will be daily driven but looking for good power still

Any help would be appreciated, I'm researching all the components in case I do buy this setup

I would not put that cam in that motor as the carb doe not have enough cfm to provide for the cam--also you would need different valve springs and screw in studes with guidplates in my opion======take it or leave it

from what I know, they are not stock springs. Comp Cams rated to .575 lift, press in studs and no guideplates.

Then no. That is altogether too much cam for the situation. It's almost a pure racing cam from days gone by.... not even close to competitive with modern ones.

Stock rockers too? I hope not.

If this is a daily driver, look at a Comp XE262H. That's about all the cam I'd dare to put into a motor with pull-out studs; and especially with stock rubber rockers.

So what would happen? Would over time it cause a problem with the engine?

Well, yeah; the studs will pull out, and the rockers will gall and or break.

And meanwhile, it will be a hassle to drive, drink gas mercilessly, and get beat by people with a lot less "lope" in the sound of their engine.

That cam is meant for a light car with 4.11 gears or more, a stick shift or a VERY loose converter, and certainly not for a daily driver in all types of weather and traffic conditions.

Damn thats what I was afraid of....

Hopefully I can still get the block from him for cheap, I don't want the cam if that is the case but he might not go down in price even without the cam. I guess I'll hafta see what I can do.

BS There are dirt track cars pulling 7000 grand on stock push in studs and stock rocker arms. The first 350 I put together when I was 15 had stock push in studs, rocker arms, and pushrods. The only thing aftermarket was the cam, lifters, and the springs. I forget the exact specs, but it was some cheapo cam with .550" lift. I drove it for two years ina couple of differnt third gen Camaros and then sold it to a kid who ran it two seasons in a lower class on a dirt track. He sold it to another kid who rebuilt it and I believe pieces of it are still making left turns.

I know a guy who ran that cam with a stock 350 shortblock (couldnt have been anymore than 9.5:1) with old GM 441 heads, RPM intake, 650 double pumper, 3.73's and 3000 stall. I believe it went 12.8's in a 3600lb car. On a 125 shot of nitrous it was like 11.40's. Was it the best cam he coulda thrown in there? Probably not, but it ran pretty darn good for what it was.

On a side note, I've been running stock rockers with poly locks for over a year now with no problems or wear... I've spun my motor to nearly 7000RPM quite a few times. Although I do have screw-in studs and proper valve springs for my cam.
