Vortec 305

Putting vortec heads on a lb9. How much do I need to mill off the heads to maintain the 9.3:1 compression ratio. Using stock pistons and .039 head gasket.?

I did figure that that without milling it should have about 8.6:1 compression. Will it run like this? I am planning on turbo charging in the future. Just wanted to know if it will be drivable at 8.6:1

Its around .006" for each cc. So how many cc's do you need.

ok I believe the stock heads are 58cc. Correct? The vortec heads are 64cc. (pretty sure) So I need to lose 6cc which according to .006 for each cc equals .036 milled of the heads. I read here www.goingfaster.com/spo/modthel03.html .045 milled but they went for a 10:1 ratio with .015 gasket and here http://chevyhiperformance.com/techar..._0409_mission/ .062 but that was a 53cc chamber and a .039 gasket

1 the stock heads are 58cc ?
2 How much can I mill off before I have to mill the intake? (brand new still in the box Scoggin Dickey tpi baseplate)
3 If the stock heads are 58cc then .036 should be the right number? or if I want to raise the comperession ratio to 9.8 then .048 milled. using a .039 gasket in both cases?
4 How will it run without any milling?

i dont think it will make a difference like day and night but you will probably lose some horepower.
i have 64cc vortec heads with a .015" gasket and i've run a 15,4 (g-tech) without any tuning of the carb and ignition.

nebu.
