It's what everybody used to run for road racing type setups way back when. Crower was though better for a straight track, the Hilborn system was considered more tunable for a variety of running conditions. Nowadays the electronic systems have pretty much eliminated the usefulness of any of that, except for some all-out racing applications like Top Fuel and such, and alcohol dragsters.
