Flexplate Removal
I didnt seem to have a problem removing the flexplate from my 1pc RMS 305 block. But I just got a motor out of a 75 El Camino, and it has a 2pc RMS 168T Flexplate. So I went to the parts store, and got a 2pc RMS 153T Flexplate.
Got all the bolts out of the flexplate, but there's something holding the flexplate in still by the middle. How do I remove this?
Here's a visual:

Just a bit tight due to a corrosion around the crank/flywheel. Spray the area with penetrating oil and tap it a few times with a rubber mallot.

you were right... I just didnt have enough patience with it
Here's a pic of the new flexplate on (with same old starter... still gotta change that out lol)
Is there a certain torque pattern and ft/lbs I need to torque them to? My manual doesnt say, or I cant find it lol.

Tq them down in stages in a star like pattern like you would with a rim ect. I don't remember what the final tq. values should be but I'll crack open a book and grab the #'s if nobody has answered by then.

Happened to have my helm manual in my lap while browsing this thread...
Figured you may need a few other torque specs, so here are a few...
assuming it's the same for all SBCs (safe guess.), here it is for an LG4 in '82.

Thanks for all the info. I ended up tightening them down in a star shape, and tightening them down w/ my breaker bar until I couldnt torque 'em anymore comftorably (by hand, and I'm weak lol). I'll back them off and torque 'em down to 60ish.
Thanks for the kind words Vader
I am hoping that it's tapped for both types of starters as well... I'm REAAALLLY hoping it is... dont wanna have to have machine work done to it, hoping to drop n go lol
