First, do a search and find out how to adjust the valves, I prefer the "exhaust opens adjust the intake, and the as the intake closes adjust the exhaust method "by far. The next issue that comes to mind is that the 1.6 rockers may not fit into the guide slots in your head, in fact I have never seen a set that would " bolt on" without an issue with from the guide slots, but I have heard that sometimes they do drop right in, so.... that means that you will have to install the rockers on an intake and an exhaust valve, adjust them properly and check the guide slot for clearance. If there is not enough clearance that means the intake has to come off and the distributor has to come out (search button again). because you will have to "massage" those guideslots using a die grinder or posssibly a file which means lots of metal chips in bad places. So if you do them on the car, use lots of rags, lots of duct tape to cover things, a shop vacuum and whatever maans possible to collect all of the chips. Then change the oil. Then again, you might blindly luck out and everything will be fine.

there are no guide plates. They are self alligning rockers - no guide plates are there. thats not the issue. The issue is that i guess the lifter has to be at the lowest point then thats when u install the rocker on that pushrod that sits the lowest. then i guees u turn the crank to bring the next one to the lowest point etc. i guess if there is lift on a pushrod, that the rocker wont install right because of the fact there is tension and leif on it - is that true or can they just be swapped on there

change your new rockers over on each cylinder when it is in the correct position to be adjusted, and then adjust it.

Even if there are no guide plates, you need to check it. for instance on vortec heads, there are 2 sizes of holes in the guide hole/slot/whatever, the 7/16 hole will give you problems with a 1.6 rocker, the 1/2 in won't.
When you adjust the valve remove the spark plugs, put a breaker bar on the crank bolt and slowly turn the engine over by hand. I prefer to start on #1, but you don't have to. Install the rocker (oil it), and leave it loose. As you crank the engine over watch the exhaust valve start to open, that is when you adjust the intake. Take the pushrod and move it up and down while you're tightening down the adjustment nut until no more play exists between the rocker and the pushrod, then crank the adjustment nut down 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Now crank the engine over until the intake vlave starts to close, this is when you adjust the exhaust valve, same method. Be careful not to collapse the lifter, so stop when the play is out of the pushrod, and then go 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn more. If you go pass the I/close, E/open then just back the engine up using the breaker bar, no big deal.
